Parks, Recreation & Forestry

"Our mission is to provide the citizens of Mitchell a high-quality parks and recreation system in the most cost-effective manner supported through reliable and sustainable funding sources that will contribute to the quality of life and economic vitality of the city." 

Parks and Recreation include the following divisions:
The Parks and Recreation department maintains parks, lake access and green space areas. The department manages the City of Mitchell Urban Forest, and provides and maintains sports fields and facilities. The department also provides recreational programming for all ages and abilities. The Parks and Recreation department manages the community recreation center that provides fitness and recreational opportunities to the public as well as the outdoor aquatic center.

The Parks and Recreation Department consists of 7 Recreation Facilities, 14 City ParksLake Mitchell Campground and 29 Lakeside Parks/Access areas. These areas consist of 577 acres of parks and 693 acres of surface water in Lake Mitchell.
