The Parks and Recreation department maintains parks, lake access, open space, urban forest, sports fields, recreational programming for all ages and abilities, the community recreation center providing health and wellness, and the outdoor aquatic center. The city also has an 18-hole golf course and a cemetery.

The Parks and Recreation Department consists of 7 Recreation Facilities, 14 City ParksLake Mitchell Campground, Mitchell Cemetery, Lakeview Golf Course and 29 Lakeside Parks/Access areas. These areas consist of 577 acres of parks and 693 acres of surface water in Lake Mitchell.
