The Lake Mitchell advisory is raised to a WARNING Level this week. Warnings are issued when Chlorphyll-a concentrations are greater or equal to 50 µ g/L to less than 5,000 µ g/L. According to the EPA and World Health Organization, a safe Chlorphyll-a level is <10 µ g/L. The current Chlorphyll-a levels are as follows: Sandy Beach at 76 µ g/L; Public Beach at 42 µ g/L; Lake Center at 70 µ g/L. For this reason the Warning level will be in effect. Harmful toxic elevations might be present and swimming is discouraged in Lake Mitchell. Please keep pets away from water and avoid water contact such as swimming, wading or water skiing.
